As times changed, so did the gardens, with car parks for visitors horse-drawn carriages and a steadfast tea price. Evening entertainments, including dazzling tableaux and firework displays on the Picture Lake, captivated audiences, reflecting both the peak of British imperialism and the somber realities of World War I.
