Nu-metal veterans Korn were in a bit of a bind as they transitioned from the 00's into the 10's. Their 2010 record "Remember Who You Are", ostensibly meant as a return to form for the group, was tepidly received by fans and critics, and fell well short of sales expectations. They needed something to revitalize them. By this time the aggressive and violent offshoot of dubstep known as brostep was at its commercial peak with artists like Skrillex and Noisia selling many a hit record.

The joining together of the two must have seemed like a lateral move at the time, because on Korn's next album, 2011's "The Path Of Totality", the Bakersfield quartet teamed up with a variety of brostep producers to apply the then-popular style of bass-heavy dance music to their sludgy, frequently bass-heavy brand of nu metal. Though a sales success that put the band back on track commercially, the reaction from fans and critics ranged from befuddlement to ineffable repulsion, and is still argued over this day among listeners whether it was a disastrous mistake or an intriguing detour for Korn.

That's where Jukebox Zeroes comes in. On this latest episode Lilz and Patrick are accompanies by chapman stick wizards Tyler Kent and Josh Goldberg of progressive metal outfit GEPH. Join them as they dip into "The Path Of Totality" and decide for themselves whether or not it's worth its weight in wubs.
