1 Samuel 18: Consecuencias cuando el Espíritu de Dios se aparta.

1 Samuel: 18:1-16:
Aconteció que cuando David terminó de hablar con Saúl, el alma de Jonatán se quedó ligada a la de David, y Jonatán lo amó como a sí mismo. Aquel día Saúl lo retuvo y no lo dejó volver a la casa de su padre. Entonces Jonatán hizo un pacto con David, porque lo amaba como a sí mismo. Y Jonatán se quitó la túnica que llevaba y se la dio a David, junto con otras prendas suyas, inclusive su espada, su arco y su cinturón. David iba a donde Saúl lo enviaba y tenía éxito, por lo cual Saúl lo puso al mando de la gente de guerra. Y esto era agradable a los ojos de todo el pueblo y a los ojos de los servidores de Saúl. Aconteció que mientras ellos volvían, cuando David regresaba de vencer al filisteo, las mujeres de todas las ciudades de Israel salieron para recibir al rey Saúl, cantando y danzando con gozo, al son de panderos y otros instrumentos musicales. Y mientras danzaban, las mujeres cantaban y decían: “¡Saúl derrotó a sus miles! ¡Y David a sus diez miles!”. Saúl se enojó muchísimo. Estas palabras le desagradaron, y pensó: “A David le dan diez miles, y a mí me dan miles. ¡No le falta más que el reino!”.
Desde aquel día en adelante, Saúl miraba con sospecha a David. Aconteció al día siguiente que un espíritu malo de parte de Dios se apoderó de Saúl, y este desvariaba dentro de su casa. David tañía el arpa con su mano, como lo hacía día tras día, y Saúl tenía una lanza en la mano. Entonces Saúl arrojó la lanza pensando: “¡Clavaré a David en la pared!”. Pero David lo esquivó dos veces. Saúl temía a David porque el SEÑOR estaba con él, mientras que se había apartado de Saúl. Entonces Saúl alejó de sí a David, haciéndolo jefe de mil; y este salía y entraba al frente del pueblo. David tenía éxito en todos sus asuntos, pues el SEÑOR estaba con él. Al ver Saúl que David tenía mucho éxito, le tenía miedo. Pero todo Israel y Judá amaban a David, porque él era quien salía y entraba al frente de ellos.

En este capítulo vemos la decadencia de Saúl y el surgimiento de David. David, al derrotar al gigante, obtuvo un impresionante recibimiento del pueblo y aún de Jonatán el hijo del rey Saúl.
En ese momento nació una de las amistades más fuertes entre los dos. Un gran ejemplo de cómo dos personas toman la decisión de que nada ni nadie los separará. Más adelante esa amistad tendría sus pruebas.
Pero hoy quiero que observemos el efecto cuando alguien se aleja o cae de la gracia de Dios. Los efectos en la vida de Saúl comenzaron a verse; él mismo notó cómo Dios comenzó a bendecir y prosperar a David, y también vió cuando Dios se apartó de él. Tan pronto el Espíritu de Dios pasó de Saúl a David, un espíritu malo comenzó a atormentar a Saúl. David trataba de calmar al rey de esos ataques de perturbación demoníaca tocando el arpa.
Saúl también sufría de temores, miedos e inseguridades. Saúl dejó de ver a David como un aliado y comenzó a verlo como un enemigo, un adversario que podía quitarle la corona. Saúl cayó en un estado donde el pánico, los temores, los enojos y la ansiedad lo atacaban continuamente. Saúl perdió la paz y el gozo, perdió el don de disfrutar de la vida y se convirtió en un hombre amargado, belicoso, vengativo y malicioso.
Este es un gran ejemplo del estado de degradación al que llega un ser humano cuando se aleja de la presencia de Dios, de perder el favor de Dios cuando decide hacer su propia voluntad y no la de Dios como lo hizo Saúl. En ese momento, la protección de Dios ya no está con él, pierde la bendición de Dios, y en vez de tener una comunicación fuerte con Dios termina viviendo una apariencia religiosa. Dios ya no escucha sus oraciones y comienza a tomar decisiones que le traerán más problemas.
La Palabra de Dios nos advierte sobre esto en Hebreos 12:15: “Miren bien que ninguno deje de alcanzar la gracia de Dios; que ninguna raíz de amargura brote y cause estorbo, y que por ella muchos sean contaminados;...".

Espero que este ejemplo nos alerte a no dejarnos llevar por la arrogancia y a no tomar decisiones apresuradas, y evitar que el orgullo nos haga sentir algún resentimiento y se convierta en una raíz de amargura y nos aleje de la gracia de Dios.
Por eso, ¡no contristemos al Espíritu de Dios; más bien avivemos el fuego del don de Dios que está en nosotros! De esta forma, estaremos seguros que Dios estará de nuestro lado y ningún espíritu perturbador hallará lugar en nuestra vida ni en nuestro hogar.

1 Samuel: 18:1-16:
Now when he had finished speaking to Saul, the soul of Jonathan was knit to the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul. Saul took him that day, and would not let him go home to his father’s house anymore. Then Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul. And Jonathan took off the robe that was on him and gave it to David, with his armor, even to his sword and his bow and his belt. So David went out wherever Saul sent him, and behaved wisely. And Saul set him over the men of war, and he was accepted in the sight of all the people and also in the sight of Saul’s servants. Now it had happened as they were coming home, when David was returning from the slaughter of the Philistine, that the women had come out of all the cities of Israel, singing and dancing, to meet King Saul, with tambourines, with joy, and with musical instruments. So the women sang as they danced, and said: “Saul has slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands.”
Then Saul was very angry, and the saying displeased him; and he said, “They have ascribed to David ten thousands, and to me they have ascribed only thousands. Now what more can he have but the kingdom?” So Saul eyed David from that day forward. And it happened on the next day that the distressing spirit from God came upon Saul, and he prophesied inside the house. So David played music with his hand, as at other times; but there was a spear in Saul’s hand. And Saul cast the spear, for he said, “I will pin David to the wall!” But David escaped his presence twice. Now Saul was afraid of David, because the Lord was with him, but had departed from Saul. Therefore Saul removed him from his presence, and made him his captain over a thousand; and he went out and came in before the people. And David behaved wisely in all his ways, and the Lord was with him. Therefore, when Saul saw that he behaved very wisely, he was afraid of him. But all Israel and Judah loved David, because he went out and came in before them.

In this chapter we see the decline of Saul and the rise of David. David, by defeating the giant, obtained an impressive reception from the people and even from Jonathan, the son of king Saul.
At that moment one of the strongest friendships between the two was born. A great example of how two people make the decision that nothing and no one will separate them. Later that friendship would have its tests.
But today I want us to look at the effect when someone walks away or falls from God's grace. The effects in Saul's life began to be seen; he himself noticed how God began to bless and prosper David, and also saw when God turned away from him. As soon as the Spirit of God passed from Saul to David, an evil spirit began to torment Saul. David tried to calm the king from these bouts of demonic disturbance by playing the harp.
Saul also suffered from fears and insecurities. Saul stopped seeing David as an ally and began to see him as an enemy, an adversary who could take his crown. Saul fell into a state where panic, fears, anger and anxiety continually attacked him. Saul lost peace and joy, lost the gift of enjoying life, and became a bitter, bellicose, vengeful and malicious man.
This is a great example of the state of degradation that a human being reaches when he moves away from the presence of God, of losing God's favor when he decides to do his own will and not God's as Saul did. At that moment, God's protection is no longer with him, he loses God's blessing, and instead of having a strong communication with God he ends up living a religious appearance. God no longer listens to his prayers and begins to make decisions that will bring him more problems.
The word of God warns us about this in Hebrews 12:15: “... looking carefully lest anyone fall short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up cause trouble, and by this many become defiled;...”

I hope this example alerts us not to let ourselves be carried away by arrogance and not make hasty decisions, or prevent pride from making us feel some resentment and becoming a root of bitterness and taking us away from the grace of God.
Therefore, let us not grieve the Spirit of God; rather let us fan the fire of the gift of God that is in us! In this way, we will be sure that God will be on our side and no disturbing spirit will find a place in our lives or in our homes.
