The imagery that lyrics invoke in songs can be very powerful. They can take us back in time to the place we first heard them. They're like an anchor or placeholder in a way if you think about it. lyrics set to music can also launch us into new worlds altogether. The mind is a powerful instrument and certain themes and stories told through music are mysterious to us still. Mark Lindsay and Eloy Escagedo talk about this topic using the song Graceland by Paul Simon as an example.
