Tara Calico was a young woman who went missing under mysterious circumstances in 1988. She was born on February 28, 1969, in Belen, New Mexico, USA. At the time of her disappearance, Tara was a 19-year-old college student.On the morning of September 20, 1988, Tara left her home for her usual bike ride along Highway 47. She never returned.
When Tara did not come back, her family became concerned and reported her missing. A search operation was launched, involving local law enforcement agencies and community members.Several months after Tara's disappearance, a Polaroid photograph was found in a parking lot in Port St. Joe, Florida. The picture showed Tara and an unidentified boy, both bound and gagged, seemingly in distress. However, the identities of the individuals in the photograph have never been conclusively confirmed.
Despite extensive efforts to locate Tara, including media coverage and public awareness campaigns, no solid leads were found, and her case remained unresolved for many years. Her disappearance gained significant attention and became a notable missing persons case in the United States.Tara's family never gave up hope and continued to search for answers. They established the Tara Calico Foundation to support other families of missing persons and advocate for improved legislation regarding missing persons cases.
