Hello and welcome back to the latest edition of The Hockey Writers Ink. On this week’s show given the Flyers continued struggles coming back from the All-Star break both myself and co-host Steel sit down to analysis two of my latest articles that present both a problem and a solution to the Flyers ongoing cap issues.

First up for discussion is one titled Are the Flyers Getting the Best for Their Buck? In this segment we try to make sense of why Philadelphia continues to overpay for both their own free agents that they drafted and ones that they have brought in over the years. To better understand this as I did in the article, we compare the Flyers players and their production versus what other teams are getting out of their top players who are signed to similar deals. Warning it’s not even close….

In the second portion of the show, we take a look at my article: How the Flyers Utilizing a Buyout Could Expedite a Rebuild. Where although not ideal I indicated how the possibility of the team choosing to use one might allow them to relieve the cap restraints they are currently under just enough to possibility bring in one of this year’s big free agents so that the Flyers can get back on the right track that much faster.
