Bodycam DUI Arrest - Clueless Rookie Cop Doesn't Know What to Arrest Woman For
On October 26, 2023, Grandview Heights Police Officers initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle with a loud muffler. The 19 year-old woman driving the vehicle did not have a valid driver's license and claimed the vehicle belonged to her boyfriend. Because she didn't have a valid license, a tow truck was called to impound the vehicle. One officer performed an inventory search of the vehicle and found an unknown pill. They questioned the woman about it, but she denied knowing what it was. Officer Ford asked Officer Buttress if he detected alcohol on the breath of the woman, but he said he didn't. However, Officer Grashel stepped in and stated she smelled alcohol. Officer Buttress then performed standardized field sobriety tests on the woman. She was placed back in handcuffs and put back into the rear of the police vehicle. Officer Ford asked Officer Buttress what she was under arrest for and he didn't know. They eventually decided to give the woman a portable breath test and the result was 0.083% BAC. Because she was under 21, she was arrested for DUI.
