The root word “eco” is Greek for home.  So ecology is really the study of home, and economics is the management of home.  For Network Type AJ Schlenger, these two aspects came together as he studied ocean systems.  

Why?  Because the current greatest impact on natural systems is how humans assign value – which is mostly through money.  So AJ now focuses on supporting startups to create value with nature-based solutions and navigating out of date regulations that can get in the way.  

Yet, the conversation quickly reveals that underneath the power of the dollar lies something even more valuable:  relationships.  Listen in for how AJ advocates for a truly Networked style of communication.  

Adam Schlenger (PhD) has a multidisciplinary background in oceanography, systems science, and natural resource management, aimed at understanding the complex interactions between human and natural systems to tackle global environmental issues and facilitate fast scaling solutions. His work currently focuses on taking scientific innovation and emerging technology out of the lab and into direct applications that positively impact both people and the natural world to create equitable and sustainable approaches to solving major challenges like climate change.
