Wow! I can't believe I heard this on the Federalist Radio Hour. These are NOT conservative solutions. Here are a few follow-up questions I would have asked. Can we make divorce harder to get? Are illegal Aliens going to get the cash? Should we stop illegal and lessen legal immigration to allow wages to rise? How is printing money going to affect the economy? My mom was a single mother of four, she got no child support. This was in the 1980s. My mom was on welfare for about two years. She cleaned houses and offices under the table and my brothers and I helped her. My mom had a lot of pride and decided to get off welfare. We were relieved that we didn't have to use food stamps anymore. We were poorer after getting off welfare. My mom didn't have a vehicle from the time I was in 7th grade until I graduated. We never had all our utilities at the same time. Once we went a long with no water; fortunately it was in the winter, so me and my brothers would go out and get snow to melt to fill the toilet tank. Still, we survived, and you may say we thrived. Our “social capital” was us, and our extended family was 1000 miles away. All this to say. If writing checks solved problems the “war on poverty” would be long over. Socialist solutions will lead to more misery.
