mostra másCarina C. Laforteza is a lawyer and a certified public accountant with extensive tax and corporate practice. Ms. Laforteza is a partner of SyCip Salazar Hernandez & Gatmaitan and currently heads the Firm’s Tax Practice Group. Before pursuing law, Ms. Laforteza worked as an auditor in one of the biggest accounting firms in the Philippines.
Ms. Laforteza has been teaching taxation at the University of the Philippines College of Law since 2009. She has also taught business law at the UP School of Economics. She was an accredited Mandatory Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) lecturer in taxation. She is a member of the Tax Management Association of the Philippines and of the Institute of Corporate Directors
Ms. Laforteza received her Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of the Philippines where she graduated cum laude and class valedictorian. She received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Accountancy degree, cum laude, from UP as well.
Rocky Alejandro L. Reyes heads the firm’s Special Projects Department. He specializes in taxation, project finance, construction, leveraged leases and infrastructure projects.
Mr. Reyes acted as legal advisor in connection with the drafting of the proposed implementing rules and regulations for the revised Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) Law of the Philippines and had advised on the drafting of proposed legislation to create the Private Sector Infrastructure Development Fund. Mr. Reyes continues to be involved in various private power and other infrastructure projects in the Philippines and other Asian countries.
From 1988 to 1990, he served as a foreign attorney at Anderson Mori & Rabinowitz in Tokyo.
