One blown tire, one unseen sniper, and nowhere to hide. Ryuhei Kitamura's 2017 Downrange strands a group of college-age carpoolers on a remote country road where a shooter begins picking them off one by one. Chris, Josh Hurtado, and Jess Byard dig into the film's unique camera work, its tension-building techniques, and its subversive streak, along with its nihilistic tone, the sniper's lack of motive, and the senseless violence that drives the story. The setting and character development round out a look at what makes Downrange such a chilling and unpredictable horror experience.
Josh Hurtado and Scary Stories We Tell's Jess Byard join Chris Stachiw, the Doctor of Podcasting, to talk Ryuhei Kitamura, sniper horror, and so much more.
