Ray Scott was the 4th overall pick in the 1961 NBA draft, by the Detroit Pistons. He played 11 seasons in the league, alongside and against Hall of Famers. Bill Russell, Oscar Robertson, Wilt Chamberlain, and many more.
Matt & Sam sit and listen to Ray talk about his playing career and stories from his book, "The NBA in Black & White: The Memoir of a Trailblazing NBA Player and Coach." Ray talks about his experiences, as a 20-something kid, going to Detroit Rock City, in the 1960s.
There weren't very many questions, there were more mere mentions of topics, and Ray took over.
Who was the purest shooter he ever saw play? How about the best overall player he's seen? Those questions spurred so many tangents about so many different things!

Ray coached the Pistons from 1972-76, where he won NBA Coach of the Year in 1973-74. He became the first black head coach to win the award. Does he consider this his proudest moment, in his life?
