Many of our readings during this Advent season deal with John the Baptist. He is a great saint, but he is also a great Drill instructor for the soul. In Marine bootcamp, I was told that there was no "I" in this platoon, only the Marine Corps, platoon or squad. And so, John the Baptist says, "He [Jesus] must increase and I must decrease,” only Christ in us. (December 19, 2019)
