Now a days in the art world it can seem as though marketing and a strong (social) media game are just as important as artistic vision and talent. It can also sometimes seem that those who run the scene’s blogs and print media hold supreme power over who does and does not succeed and rise to the top. Because of this, we here at VantagePoint welcome the opportunity, when it presents itself, to sit down with and pick the brain of those inside the scene with a perspective other than that of the artist. This week we did just that.
As managing editor of VNA Magazine Roland Henry has his fingers in many different pies. As if overseeing one of street art and graffiti’s leading and most highly regarded publications wasn’t enough, he seems to be taking on more and more every month. The title of ‘Curator’ is the most recent that he adds to his resume as this month sees the opening of Project M5, the much anticipated collaborative exhibition between Urban Nation and VNA Magazine, curated by none other than Mr. Henry himself. While in Berlin Henry was kind enough to sit down with us and have a chat.
