It is a pleasure to singer, musician, and bandleader Louis Prima, Jr. to The Jake’s Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast.

Louis is the bandleader of the boisterous New Orleans-style band The Witnesses. Formed in 2006, Louis Prima Jr. and the Witnesses have performed to sell-out crowds worldwide. The rowdy, horn-driven 10-piece band has recorded two albums, including 2012’s Return of the Wildest! and 2014’s Blow! Both albums were released on the Warrior Records label and distributed by Universal Music Group.

Return of the Wildest featured Louis and the Witnesses’ take on his father – the legendary bandleader Louis Prima, Sr.’s music. Meanwhile, Blow was recorded at the legendary Capitol Records and featured eight original songs that Louis wrote. Blow was the most-added album on American jazz radio and debuted in the CMJ Jazz Chart’s Top 25 and iTunes’ Top 15 jazz charts.

Louis Prima, Jr. and the Witnesses’ music crosses into several musical genres and has been described as the “changing the face of big band music.” The group combines facets of swing, rock, and soul and packs it into one giant punch.”

In this edition of The Jake’s Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast, Louis Prima, Jr. spoke about the lessons that he learned from his father and the Witnesses’ origin story. He also shared the stories behind several of the band’s top songs, including “New Orleans,” “Blow,” and “That’s My Home,” a duet with his father.
