FACT: Little Cottonwood Canyon (Utah State Route 210) is the most dangerous avalanche road in North America
Weekends, holidays, and powder days cause peak traffic challenges on Little Cottonwood and Big Cottonwood Canyon roads. Residents and visitors flock to these mountains to enjoy powder days.
Traffic over 7,000 vehicles per day means your trip could be 20 minutes or 2 hours during peak times. If you choose to drive yourself, you’ll pay more with a route toll. 2050 estimates show 50 days per year will have that traffic load around 7,000 per day.
Alta Vista, Snowbird, Salt Lake City, and other neighboring cities weigh in. Over 25,000 comments were collected from area residents during public input sessions reviewing the draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) released this past Summer.
