The book tells story of her great grandmother's life who grew up in pre-partition Sindh India and had to migrate to India after the partition of India in 1947, Padma Bajaj, the protagonist of this factually based novel is a headstrong, feminist growing in 1930s and 1940s Sindh, who becomes a key source of wisdom, guidance and strength to her husband, children, grand children.
