This story is a dystopian tale about a plague that destroys the population sending the world into madness. This sad reflection on Mary’s own feelings of loneliness and depression are reflected in her characters throughout the story. If you are looking for a straight up downer...well then this is your book. However, as is tradition, we will try to put an upbeat and sometimes humors spin on this dark classic.
