Have you ever had one of those moments where there is so much going on in your life that it feels like the best you can do is just survive?...
mostra másIt’s completely OK and normal to have these feelings. What you don’t want, though, is to feel like you are constantly trying to survive. You don’t want to feel like you are just reacting to the circumstances in your life.
If you’ve ever felt stuck in survival mode, my guest on the Wholly a Woman podcast, Lindsey Peterson, is just the expert you want to learn from! She empowers women to thrive, even during life’s difficult times.
Here are the take-aways from this week’s episode:
-Being in survival mode is acting from the part of the brain that functions to keep us safe and alive. Our brains are really smart and are trying to protect us
-To get out of survival mode, we need to get to the root of WHY we are in survival mode to start with
-How was responding to stress (survival mode) modeled to us as children?
-We tend to judge others and label them based on how they react in their survival mode
-The core question of survival mode is “Am I safe?” - This is the starting point, you need to ask yourself if you feel safe
-The purpose of a calming strategy is for you to be able to answer “yes, I am safe”
-What are the things that you love? Then use those things to experience calm
-A responsive woman is one who knows she can handle things in her life - someone who responds instead of reacts
-Treat the joys in your life as the gifts they are
