This week, the 2019 Nevada Health Conference is being held at the Renaissance Hotel here in
Las Vegas. This event is hosted by the organization, Immunize Nevada. The Conference brings
together Nevada Healthcare professionals to talk about Immunizations, disease prevention and
health issues. This year’s keynote speaker will be addressing surviving Meningococcal Disease,
otherwise known as Meningitis.
Bacterial meningitis is the most serious type of meningitis. It can lead to death or permanent
disability and can be deadly. Death can occur in as little as a few hours. Meningitis vaccines
protect against meningococcal disease. Vaccination is something you can do to protect yourself
and your family from meningitis.
We have guests today to talk about the importance of Meningitis vaccination and our special

Our special guest and keynote speaker of this year’s Nevada Health Conference is Ms. Jamie
Schanbaum. Jamie is a Para-athlete and a member of the US Paralympic Cycling Team and a
Meningitis Survivor. Jamie is also a GSK spokesperson and is very focused on raising awareness
for meningococcal disease and the 2 vaccines needed to protect teens and young adults.
