"First Lady of Wrestling Shoot: The Missy Hyatt Conversation Shoot takes listeners on an exciting journey through the career of Melissa Ann Hiatt, known to the wrestling world as Missy Hyatt.
In this engaging shoot interview, Hyatt opens up about her rise to fame, behind-the-scenes drama, and her pivotal role in shaping women's wrestling.Hyatt’s journey begins in Dallas in 1985, when she entered the wrestling world as a valet for her then-boyfriend, John Tatum, in World Class Championship Wrestling (WCCW). Her "loaded" Gucci purse became her signature weapon in heated feuds, including a rivalry with fellow valet Sunshine that culminated in a mud-pit match at Texas Stadium in 1986.
Hyatt's career then took her to the Oklahoma-based Universal Wrestling Federation, where she joined Eddie Gilbert's stable, "Hot Stuff & Hyatt International," sparking a feud with valet Dark Journey. Her alliance with Gilbert led her back to the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) after the UWF's purchase, before moving on to Memphis and Knoxville, where she revived her "Missy's Manor" interview segment and experienced controversial storylines.
In 1987, Vince McMahon recruited Hyatt to host "Missy's Manor" on the WWF, but the segment struggled to gain traction. Hyatt's return to WCW led her to manage the Steiner Brothers, igniting a storyline that introduced Robin Green as Woman. Hyatt’s presence in World Championship Wrestling (WCW) solidified her as a key figure, despite facing backlash after her termination in 1994, which led to a lawsuit against the company.
After a brief hiatus, Hyatt joined Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW), entering a heated feud with Stevie Richards and the Sandman, only to depart after suffering a legitimate broken elbow. Through the twists and turns of her wrestling career, Hyatt’s relationships with wrestling icons like Eddie Gilbert, John Tatum, and Jake "The Snake" Roberts add depth to her story.
Today, Hyatt’s autobiography, The First Lady of Wrestling, offers readers a glimpse into her career, solidifying her legacy as an influential figure in wrestling.
