On this episode of Foul Pole to Foul Pole, we sit down with Jailyn Ford! We talk about her journey through the recruiting process. We discuss the ups and downs an athlete will go through when they are deciding on where they want to continue their career and earn a degree. She talks about transitioning from the collegiate game to the professional game as well as the international game as well. She tells us what it is like being a professional softball player, both here for USSSA Pride and playing overseas in Japan and Australia. She also brags about the catchers she has had over the years and talks about the people in her inner circle. She is the first to admit that she would not be where she is today if it was not for the people she has had by her side. Her family-first mentality has led Jailyn to high places, and I don’t see that changing anytime soon.
Jailyn is currently in Japan playing in the Japanese Softball League with Honda Reverta. She also plays professionally here in the states with USSSA Pride. The lefty pitcher has always been dominating in the circle. Even before she took her talents to James Madison University, she was lighting up the record books in high school and on the travel ball circuit. Former Coach Tom Bunn once told me that she was one of the best pitchers he has ever seen, coming from him…that is some high praise. Jailyn is now a member of the USA Softball National Team.

2022 World Games Gold Medalist; Saved a game with a 1-0 record and 5 strikeouts in 3 innings pitched.
2013 Junior Women's World Championship silver medalist.
Other Career Highlights
2022 Canada Cup Champion; Saved 2 games with a 1.40 ERA and 13 strikeouts in 10 innings pitched.
Collegiate Highlights
2016: NFCA First Team All American, CAA Player of the Year, CAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player and All-Tournament Team, ASA/USA Softball and NFCA National Pitcher of the Week, Broke JMU all-time career records for appearances, innings pitched, and batters faced.
2015: NFCA Third Team All American, CAA Player of the Year, started all 58 games, set four JMU career records for wins, shutouts, strikeouts, and complete games, tosses JMU's first-ever perfect game on April 15 in a 13-0 win at East Carolina.
2014: CAA Pitcher of the Year, Five-time CAA Pitcher of the Week, NFCA Second Team All-American, Set or tied program records for wins, strikeouts, starts, innings pitched, appearances and shutouts.
2013: Part of Jr. National Team as the ISF Junior World Championships, NFCA First Team All-Region, 23 complete games, 9 shoutouts and one save.

Offensively added a career batting average of .568 with 21 home runs and 120 RBIs
