Episode XXI: BEER NINJA - He was such a good panel member back in July for our State of Craft Beer - Part II episode that we wanted him back, solo. So no in-studio sharing of microphones tonight. Plus he left some beer in the studio fridge and we didn’t feel right drinking it without him. Returning to studio tonight for Episode 21 — yep we are of drinking age now — is the Beer Ninja Chris Spradley. Spradley is a brewer and KegID account manager with SLG Keg Pros where he travels the country drinking beer — oops — make that helping breweries with their keg logistics. But most in Houston likely know him best as the former co-host of the What’s On Tap radio show or the host/creator of the Destination Beer TV show. He was a craft beer writer in California back before most in Texas knew what craft beer was. He is also an author, an air force veteran, the former president of Craft Beer Consultants, LLC and the beer evangelist responsible for expanding the reach of Rahr & Sons into the Houston, Galveston and Beaumont markets years ago. So we will dive deep into many craft beer topics including breaking news that another major out-of-state brewery is pulling out of Texas, a popular Austin-area brewery is selling their entire operation turn-key and much more. We have local breweries releasing new offerings today, an update on a local waterfront beer festival scheduled for this weekend that has been rescheduled due to threatening weather, a preview of the weekend Live Music Calendar (Pick of the week is national act ZEPPARELLA- THE ALL FEMALE ZEPPELIN POWERHOUSE Saturday at Scout Bar. Also live music at the Railean Distery and Buccaneer Bar on both Friday and Saturday). There will be a audio quiz and if time allows there will be another edition of the Galactic Coast Challenge where we will see if brewers still keep the exclusive edge over astronauts, aquanauts, aviators and American Ninja Warriors. Plus possibly, but unlikely, we will have time for a segment on vacation beers as GCPH hosts report their research of local IPAs during recent East and West Coast excursions.
