Génesis 10: ¿por qué leer las genealogías?
Leamos algunos versos de ese capítulo pero recuerda leerlo todo completamente.

Génesis 10:1‭-‬12 RVA2015:
Estos son los descendientes de los hijos de Noé: Sem, Cam y Jafet, a quienes les nacieron hijos después del diluvio: Los hijos de Jafet fueron: Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javán, Tubal, Mesec y Tiras. Los hijos de Gomer fueron: Asquenaz, Rifat y Togarma. Los hijos de Javán fueron: Elisa, Tarsis, Quitim y Rodanim. A partir de estos fueron pobladas las costas de las naciones según sus territorios, cada una según su idioma, conforme a sus familias en sus naciones. Los hijos de Cam fueron: Cus, Mizraim, Fut y Canaán. Los hijos de Cus fueron: Seba, Havila, Sabta, Raama y Sabteca. Los hijos de Raama fueron Seba y Dedán. Cus engendró a Nimrod, quien comenzó a ser poderoso en la tierra. Él fue un vigoroso cazador delante del SEÑOR, por lo cual se suele decir: “Como Nimrod, el vigoroso cazador delante del SEÑOR”. Al principio, su reino abarcaba Babel, Erec, Acad y Calne, en la tierra de Sinar. De aquella tierra salió para Asiria y edificó Nínive, Ciudad Rejobot, Cálaj y Resén, entre Nínive y Cálaj. Esta es una gran ciudad.


Este capítulo es uno de los que muchos que, los lectores de la Biblia, prefieren brincarse y no leerlo. Las genealogías son a veces tediosas, especialmente porque muchos no le ven sentido en leerlas.
Pero si lees con atención, descubrirás detalles importantes o por lo menos curiosos para entender cómo nacieron los pueblos y naciones o entender cómo están conectados ciertos personajes importantes de la Biblia.
La genealogía también nos enseña la importancia de las buenas acciones y cómo repercuten positivamente en nuestros hijos.
Las personas que caminaron con Dios, usualmente, sus hijos siguieron sus pasos y formaron familias, pueblos y naciones bendecidas por Dios. Otros se llenaron de orgullo y altivez y sus descendientes fueron pueblos que se corrompieron y practicaron toda clase de maldad. Por ejemplo, aquí vemos a Babel donde retaron la soberanía de Dios queriendo hacer su propia voluntad. También vemos a Sodoma en esta lista. Más adelante veremos cómo fueron destruidos por su inmensa maldad.
Curiosamente, vemos la identidad de los hijos de Jafet que fueron conocidos como "los que habitaron las costas".
Esto nos hace reflexionar sobre la influencia que nosotros tenemos sobre nuestra familia. Cuando formes tu hogar, no olvides que es muy probable que ellos formarán sus familias de forma similar a lo que emulamos. Ellos adoptarán nuestras costumbres, hábitos, creencias, tradiciones, etc. Y sobre estas acciones ellos las transmitirán a sus hijos.
Espero que hayas podido aprender algo hoy en medio de tantos nombres de familias, clanes y naciones.

Escudriñemos:
Leamos Deuteronomio 6:6-7: “Estas palabras que yo te mando estarán en tu corazón. Las repetirás a tus hijos y hablarás de ellas sentado en casa o andando por el camino, cuando te acuestes y cuando te levantes.”

Luego, usa la técnica llamada PARAFRASEARLO, y réplica con tus propias palabras el significado del texto bíblico.

Let's read a few verses from that chapter but remember to read it all the way through.

Genesis 10:1-12 NLT:
This is the account of the families of Shem, Ham, and Japheth, the three sons of Noah. Many children were born to them after the great flood.
The descendants of Japheth were Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, and Tiras.
The descendants of Gomer were Ashkenaz, Riphath, and Togarmah.
The descendants of Javan were Elishah, Tarshish, Kittim, and Rodanim. Their descendants became the seafaring peoples that spread out to various lands, each identified by its own language, clan, and national identity.
The descendants of Ham were Cush, Mizraim, Put, and Canaan.
The descendants of Cush were Seba, Havilah, Sabtah, Raamah, and Sabteca. The descendants of Raamah were Sheba and Dedan.
Cush was also the ancestor of Nimrod, who was the first heroic warrior on earth. Since he was the greatest hunter in the world, his name became proverbial. People would say, “This man is like Nimrod, the greatest hunter in the world.” He built his kingdom in the land of Babylonia, with the cities of Babylon, Erech, Akkad, and Calneh. From there he expanded his territory to Assyria, building the cities of Nineveh, Rehoboth-ir, Calah, and Resen (the great city located between Nineveh and Calah).


This chapter is one that many Bible readers prefer to skip over and not read. Genealogies are sometimes tedious, especially since many don't see the point in reading them.
But if you read carefully, you will discover important or at least curious details to understand how peoples and nations were born or understand how certain important characters in the Bible are connected.
Genealogy also teaches us the importance of good actions and how they have a positive impact on our children.
People who walked with God, usually, their children followed in their footsteps and formed families, towns and nations blessed by God. Others were filled with pride and haughtiness and their descendants were peoples who became corrupt and practiced all kinds of evil. For example, here we see Babel where they challenged God's sovereignty by wanting to do their own thing. We also see Sodom in this list. Later we will see how they were destroyed by their immense wickedness.
Interestingly, we see the identity of Japheth's sons who were known as "those who dwelt on the coastlands."
This makes us reflect on the influence we have on our family. When you build your household, don't forget that they will most likely build their families similar to what we emulate. They will adopt our customs, habits, beliefs, traditions, etc. And on these actions they will transmit them to their children.
I hope you have been able to learn something today in the midst of so many names of families, clans and nations.

Let's scrutinize:
Let's read Deuteronomy 6:6-7: “And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today. Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up.”

Then, use the technique called PARAPHRASE IT, and replicate in your own words the meaning of the biblical text.
