Génesis 33: El Grandioso Don de la Reconciliación.

Génesis 33:1-16:
1 Alzando Jacob sus ojos miró, y he aquí que Esaú venía con los cuatrocientos hombres. Entonces él repartió sus hijos entre Lea, Raquel y sus dos siervas. 2 Puso a las siervas y a sus hijos delante, después a Lea y a sus hijos, y al final a Raquel y a José. 3 Él mismo pasó delante de ellos y se postró en tierra siete veces, hasta que se acercó a su hermano.
4 Esaú corrió a su encuentro, lo abrazó, se echó sobre su cuello y lo besó. Y lloraron. 5 Alzó sus ojos, vio a las mujeres y a los niños y preguntó: —¿Quiénes son estos para ti?
Y él respondió: —Son los hijos que Dios, en su gracia, ha dado a tu siervo.
6 Entonces se acercaron las siervas y sus hijos, y se postraron. 7 También se acercaron Lea y sus hijos, y se postraron. Finalmente se acercaron José y Raquel, y se postraron.
8 Entonces Esaú le preguntó: —¿Cuál es el propósito de todos esos grupos que he encontrado?
Y él respondió: —Hallar gracia ante los ojos de mi señor.
9 Esaú le dijo: —Yo tengo suficiente, hermano mío; sea para ti lo que es tuyo.
10 Y Jacob respondió: —No, por favor. Si he hallado gracia ante tus ojos, toma mi presente de mis manos, pues el ver tu cara ha sido como si hubiera visto el rostro de Dios, y me has mostrado tu favor. 11 Acepta, pues, mi presente que te ha sido traído, pues Dios me ha favorecido, porque tengo de todo.
Él insistió, y Esaú lo aceptó. 12 Luego este dijo: —¡Vamos, partamos! Yo te acompañaré.
13 Jacob le dijo: —Mi señor sabe que los niños son tiernos y que tengo a mi cuidado ovejas y vacas que están criando. Si se los fatiga, en un día morirá todo el rebaño. 14 Por favor, pase mi señor delante de su siervo. Yo avanzaré como convenga, al paso del ganado que va delante de mí y al paso de los niños, hasta que alcance a mi señor, en Seír.
15 Esaú dijo: —Permite que deje contigo algunos de los hombres que están conmigo.
Y él dijo: —¿Para qué esto? Solo que halle yo gracia ante los ojos de mi señor.
16 Aquel día regresó Esaú por su camino a Seír.


Esta es una escena del poder que existe cuando dos personas se reconcilian. Esaú había jurado matar a su hermano Jacob por haberlo suplantado pero, después de que Jacob se humilló delante de Dios y dejó sus temores a los pies de Dios, el Señor ya había estado trabajando en el corazón de Esaú.
Cuando Esaú escuchó que Jacob regresaba, emprendió camino hacia él; y cuando vio a los hijos y esposas de su hermano, mostró respeto; y cuando vió a su hermano, corrió a abrazarlo. Jacob tomó una actitud de siervo, demostró humildad, restituyendo su error dándole regalos a Esaú, Esaú no quería pero Jacob insistió que al final él aceptó. Esaú celebró la vida próspera de Jacob, se alegró al ver a sus sobrinos y abrazó con ternura a su hermano.

Esta es una gran lección de vida para todos nosotros. Jacob creyó al Señor, él regresó a la tierra donde sabía que estaba su hermano que lo odiaba. Él no sabía qué pasaría en el reencuentro pero tomó el paso de fe para confrontar su pasado y enmendar todos esos malentendidos que ocasionaron una gran grieta en la relación familiar, en especial con su hermano.
Primero tiene que haber voluntad. Jacob tomó la iniciativa; y Esaú no tuvo rencor ni orgullo porque no le dijo a los mensajeros que envió Jacob que le dijeran a su hermano que se devolviera, que no lo quería ver, ni lo amenazó otra vez de muerte. Esta vez él llevó criados para ayudar a Jacob con sus pertenencias.
También tiene que haber restitución. Jacob aceptó el daño que le hizo a su hermano en la forma que tomó su primogenitura, aunque esta le pertenecía a Jacob cuando Esaú se la vendió por un plato de comida. Él le dio mucho ganado y demostró su sincero deseo de enmendar las heridas por las decepciones que recibió Esaú en el pasado.
La combinación de un genuino arrepentimiento delante de Dios y ante la persona afectada en el problema hace que produzca un fruto grandioso de perdón, reconciliación y restauración de una relación que antes se había quebrado pero que ahora comienza de nuevo, con una nueva oportunidad de crear nuevas memorias y un afecto más profundo entre dos seres que se aman y no desean continuar con una cadena de resentimiento y odio, pasandola a sus hijos, sus familias, sus descendientes.
En los siguientes años, los hijos de Esaú y Jacob crecieron, hicieron pactos de respeto mutuo y sana convivencia, sin hacerse daño y respetar sus territorios. Gracias a dos padres que decidieron romper con la cadena de resentimiento y formar lazos de amor fraternal.

Escudriñemos:

Sumérgete en la historia, trata de sentir la experiencia que vivió Esaú al ver a los hijos y a las mujeres de su hermano, postrándose en señal de humildad ante él; también lo que habría sentido Jacob en esos segundos cuando vio a Esaú. Visualiza ese abrazo, y escucha sus voces cuando lloraban desconsoladamente.

Genesis 33: The Great Gift of Reconciliation.

Genesis 33:1-16 NKJV:
Now Jacob lifted his eyes and looked, and there, Esau was coming, and with him were four hundred men. So he divided the children among Leah, Rachel, and the two maidservants. And he put the maidservants and their children in front, Leah and her children behind, and Rachel and Joseph last. Then he crossed over before them and bowed himself to the ground seven times, until he came near to his brother.
But Esau ran to meet him, and embraced him, and fell on his neck and kissed him, and they wept. And he lifted his eyes and saw the women and children, and said, “Who are these with you?”
So he said, “The children whom God has graciously given your servant.” Then the maidservants came near, they and their children, and bowed down. And Leah also came near with her children, and they bowed down. Afterward Joseph and Rachel came near, and they bowed down.
Then Esau said, “What do you mean by all this company which I met?”
And he said, “These are to find favor in the sight of my lord.”
But Esau said, “I have enough, my brother; keep what you have for yourself.”
And Jacob said, “No, please, if I have now found favor in your sight, then receive my present from my hand, inasmuch as I have seen your face as though I had seen the face of God, and you were pleased with me. Please, take my blessing that is brought to you, because God has dealt graciously with me, and because I have enough.” So he urged him, and he took it.
Then Esau said, “Let us take our journey; let us go, and I will go before you.”
But Jacob said to him, “My lord knows that the children are weak, and the flocks and herds which are nursing are with me. And if the men should drive them hard one day, all the flock will die. Please let my lord go on ahead before his servant. I will lead on slowly at a pace which the livestock that go before me, and the children, are able to endure, until I come to my lord in Seir.”
And Esau said, “Now let me leave with you some of the people who are with me.”
But he said, “What need is there? Let me find favor in the sight of my lord.” So Esau returned that day on his way to Seir.


This is a scene of the power that exists when two people reconcile. Esau had sworn to kill his brother Jacob for supplanting him, but after Jacob humbled himself before God and laid his fears at God's feet, the Lord had already been at work in Esau's heart.
When Esau heard that Jacob was coming back, he went to look for him; and when he saw his brother's children and wives, he showed respect; and when he saw his brother, he ran to hug him. Jacob took a servant attitude, showed humility, making up for his mistake by giving gifts to Esau, Esau did not want to but Jacob insisted that in the end he accepted. Esau celebrated Jacob's prosperous life, was happy to see his nephews and nieces and tenderly embraced his brother.

This is a great life lesson for all of us. Jacob believed the Lord, he returned to the land where he knew his brother who hated him was. He did not know what would happen in the reunion, but he took the step of faith to confront his past and correct all those misunderstandings that caused a great crack in the family relationship, especially with his brother.
First there has to be will. Jacob took the initiative; and Esau had no grudge or pride because he did not tell the messengers that Jacob sent to tell his brother to return, that he did not want to see him, nor did he threaten him with death again. This time he brought servants to help Jacob with his belongings.
There also has to be restitution. Jacob accepted the harm he did to his brother in the form that his birthright took, although it belonged to Jacob when Esau sold it to him for a plate of food. He gave him a lot of cattle and demonstrated his sincere desire to mend the wounds of Esau's past disappointments.
The combination of a genuine repentance before God and before the person affected in the problem makes it produce a great fruit of forgiveness, reconciliation and restoration of a relationship that had previously been broken but now begins again, with a new opportunity to create new memories and a deeper affection between two beings who love each other and do not want to continue with a chain of resentment and hatred, passing it on to their children, their families, their descendants.
In the following years, the children of Esau and Jacob grew up, made pacts of mutual respect and healthy coexistence, without harming each other and respecting their territories. Thanks to two parents who decided to break the chain of resentment and form bonds of brotherly love.
