Génesis 43: Benjamín, símbolo de restauración y unificación familiar.

Génesis 43:19-34:
Entonces se acercaron al administrador de la casa de José y le hablaron a la entrada de la casa, diciendo: —¡Oh, señor mío! Nosotros en verdad vinimos la primera vez para comprar alimentos. Y aconteció que cuando llegamos a la posada, abrimos nuestros costales, y he aquí el dinero de cada uno estaba en la boca de su costal: nuestro dinero en su justo valor. Lo hemos traído de vuelta con nosotros. También hemos traído más dinero con nosotros para comprar alimentos. Nosotros no sabemos quién puso nuestro dinero en nuestros costales.
Él respondió: —Paz a ustedes; no teman. Su Dios, el Dios de su padre, les puso el tesoro en sus costales, puesto que su dinero llegó a mi poder.
Luego les sacó a Simeón. Así que el hombre llevó a los hombres a la casa de José. Les dio agua, y ellos se lavaron los pies. Luego dio forraje a sus asnos. Por su parte, ellos prepararon el presente mientras José venía al mediodía, porque habían oído que iban a comer allí.
Cuando José llegó a casa, ellos le llevaron el presente que habían traído personalmente a la casa y se postraron a tierra ante él. Él les preguntó cómo estaban y les dijo: —Su padre, el anciano que mencionaron, ¿está bien? ¿Vive todavía?
Ellos respondieron: —Tu siervo, nuestro padre, está bien. Él vive todavía.
Ellos se inclinaron ante él y se postraron. Y alzando sus ojos, él vio a su hermano Benjamín, hijo de su madre. Y les preguntó: —¿Es este su hermano menor de quien me habían hablado? —Y añadió—: Dios tenga misericordia de ti, hijo mío.
Entonces José se dio prisa, porque se conmovió profundamente a causa de su hermano y estuvo a punto de llorar. Entró en su habitación y lloró allí. Luego se lavó la cara, salió fuera y conteniéndose dijo: —Sirvan la comida.
A José le sirvieron aparte. Y sirvieron por separado a ellos y a los egipcios que habían de comer allí, pues los egipcios no pueden comer con los hebreos, porque esto a los egipcios les es una abominación.
Se sentaron en su presencia de esta manera: el primogénito de acuerdo con su rango hasta el más joven de acuerdo con su edad. Y los hombres se miraban atónitos unos a otros. Él tomó porciones de delante de sí para ellos, e hizo que la porción de Benjamín fuera cinco veces mayor que la de los demás. También bebieron y se alegraron con él.


José recibió a sus hermanos otra vez. El conflicto de emociones en el corazón de José era grande. Esta vez no los trató con dureza; les dió de comer y los impresionó poniéndolos en el orden de edad y bendiciendo 5 veces más a el pequeño Benjamín, a quien José quedó conmovido al verlo. No pudo resistir las lágrimas y corrió a esconderse para que no lo miraran ellos. José guardó su compostura porque debía seguir con su plan para examinar la situación, no solo ver la actitud de sus hermanos sino también el de su propio corazón. José estaba tomando tiempo para poder entender cómo ayudarlos a ellos pero también para poder resolver esos sentimientos causados por las heridas del pasado.
Aunque José tenía toda autoridad para hacerles daño, él no se dejó llevar por el resentimiento ni el odio. José estaba sanando sus heridas emocionales viendo a su hermano pequeño, hermano de padre y madre, con el que jugaba desde pequeño, el que Benjamín veía y seguía más que a los otros mayores.
Más adelante veremos como José se dio a conocer a sus hermanos, pero hoy podemos aprender de José.
Primero, toma tiempo para encarar a tus ofensores con prudencia sin dejarse llevar por el resentimiento.
Segundo, pon de tu parte para aceptar las acciones de arrepentimiento de ellos. José vio que ellos sintieron remordimiento por sus malas acciones en el pasado.
Tercero, aprovecha las oportunidades para sanar tu alma con otras formas. José se consoló al ver a Benjamín y sintió esperanza en poder restaurar su relación con sus seres queridos. Ver a Benjamín sano y amado por sus hermanos, a quienes José vio celebrando con alegría la porción de Benjamin en la mesa, era señal de que ellos no eran tan malos y de alguna forma José se conectó también con su padre que estaba ausente. Benjamín era el símbolo de un renacer familiar en medio de las grietas tan grandes que dejaron los daños del pasado.

No pierdas la esperanza de restaurar tu hogar, tu familia. Siempre habrá oportunidades para la redención, para la restauración; siempre habrá una luz de esperanza.

Escudriñemos:
Usa el método VISUALÍZALO. Recrea en tu mente el momento en que José corre a llorar al ver a su hermano menor. También el momento que, a pesar de la incertidumbre que estaban viviendo, ellos sacaron un momento para celebrar y alegrarse.

Genesis 43:19-34:
When they drew near to the steward of Joseph’s house, they talked with him at the door of the house, and said, “O sir, we indeed came down the first time to buy food; but it happened, when we came to the encampment, that we opened our sacks, and there, each man’s money was in the mouth of his sack, our money in full weight; so we have brought it back in our hand. And we have brought down other money in our hands to buy food. We do not know who put our money in our sacks.”
But he said, “Peace be with you, do not be afraid. Your God and the God of your father has given you treasure in your sacks; I had your money.” Then he brought Simeon out to them.
So the man brought the men into Joseph’s house and gave them water, and they washed their feet; and he gave their donkeys feed. Then they made the present ready for Joseph’s coming at noon, for they heard that they would eat bread there.
And when Joseph came home, they brought him the present which was in their hand into the house, and bowed down before him to the earth. Then he asked them about their well-being, and said, “Is your father well, the old man of whom you spoke? Is he still alive?”
And they answered, “Your servant our father is in good health; he is still alive.” And they bowed their heads down and prostrated themselves.
Then he lifted his eyes and saw his brother Benjamin, his mother’s son, and said, “Is this your younger brother of whom you spoke to me?” And he said, “God be gracious to you, my son.” Now his heart yearned for his brother; so Joseph made haste and sought somewhere to weep. And he went into his chamber and wept there. Then he washed his face and came out; and he restrained himself, and said, “Serve the bread.”
So they set him a place by himself, and them by themselves, and the Egyptians who ate with him by themselves; because the Egyptians could not eat food with the Hebrews, for that is an abomination to the Egyptians. And they sat before him, the firstborn according to his birthright and the youngest according to his youth; and the men looked in astonishment at one another. Then he took servings to them from before him, but Benjamin’s serving was five times as much as any of theirs. So they drank and were merry with him.


Joseph received his brothers again. The conflict of emotions in Joseph's heart was big. This time he did not treat them harshly; he fed them and impressed them by putting them in the order of age and blessing little Benjamin 5 times more, whom Joseph was moved to see. He couldn't resist the tears and ran to hide so they wouldn't see him. Joseph kept his composure because he had to continue with his plan to examine the situation, not only to see the attitude of his brothers but also that of his own heart. Joseph was taking time to understand how to help them but also to be able to resolve those feelings caused by the hurts of the past.
Although Joseph had every authority to harm them, he did not give in to resentment or hatred. Joseph was healing his emotional wounds by seeing his little brother, brother of father and mother, with whom he played since he was a child, the one that Benjamin saw and followed more than the other older ones.
Later we will see how Joseph made himself known to his brothers, but today we can learn from Joseph.
First, take time to approach your offenders wisely without giving in to resentment.
Second, do your part to accept their actions of repentance. Joseph saw that they felt remorse for their bad deeds in the past.
Third, take advantage of opportunities to heal your soul in other ways. Joseph was comforted when he saw Benjamin and felt hope that he could restore his relationship with his loved ones. Seeing Benjamin healthy and loved by his brothers, whom Joseph saw joyfully celebrating Benjamin's portion at the table, it was a sign that they were not so bad and somehow Joseph also connected with his father who was absent. Benjamin was the symbol of a family rebirth in the midst of such great cracks left by the damage of the past.

Do not lose hope of restoring your home, your family. There will always be opportunities for redemption, for restoration; there will always be a glimmer of hope.

Let's scrutinize:
Use the method called VISUALIZE IT. Recreate in your mind the moment when Joseph runs to cry when he sees his younger brother. Also the moment that, despite the uncertainty they were experiencing, they took a moment to celebrate and rejoice.
