mostra másMarion’s story begins in Germany in the early 1930s. Following Hitler’s rise to power, the Blumenthal family — father, mother, Marion, and her brother, Albert — were trapped in Nazi Germany. They managed eventually to make their way to Holland, but soon Holland was occupied by the Nazis. For the next six and a half years the Blumenthal’s were forced to live in refugee, transit, and death camps that included Westerbork in Holland and the notorious Bergen-Belsen in Germany, where Anne Frank died. From the events preceding Kristallnacht to imprisonment in concentration camps to liberation in April of 1945, to her surviving family’s ultimate relocation to the United States and her subsequent years, Marion’s story is one of horror and hardship, but it is also a story of courage, hope, the will to survive and a commitment that the world Never Forget.
