In a special shoot interview that promises to take wrestling fans on an unforgettable journey back in time, two legendary wrestling historians and lifelong friends, Jim Cornette and Bruce Prichard, sit down for a conversation that blends passion, knowledge, and nostalgia. Drawing inspiration from the iconic "Back to the Future" theme, these two wrestling aficionados explore the rich and storied history of Houston Wrestling, a promotion that once reigned supreme in the wrestling world.
Jim Cornette and Bruce Prichard: Wrestling Historians and Lifelong Fans
Jim Cornette, known for his sharp wit, encyclopedic wrestling knowledge, and legendary managerial career, teams up with Bruce Prichard, the man behind the persona of Brother Love and a wrestling mind who has been involved in almost every aspect of the business. Together, they have seen and experienced the evolution of wrestling from the inside out, making them the perfect guides for this nostalgic trip.
The Focus: Houston Wrestling and Paul Boesch
The episode centers on Houston Wrestling, also known as the Gulf Athletic Club, a promotion that ran from the mid-1920s until 1987. Originally started by the Sigel family, Houston Wrestling reached its zenith under the leadership of Paul Boesch, a man whose vision and dedication made the promotion a national phenomenon.
The Beginning:
Houston's wrestling legacy began in the early 20th century, with sporadic shows held from 1915 to 1923. Julius Sigel, inspired by the early success, established the City Auditorium, a venue that would become a hub for weekly wrestling events starting in the late 1920s. When Julius left to promote in other cities, his brother Morris Sigel took over, guiding the promotion with strong business acumen despite having little wrestling knowledge.
Paul Boesch's Rise:
A pivotal figure in Houston Wrestling, Paul Boesch began as a wrestler but transitioned to a backstage role following a career-ending car accident in 1947. Hired by Morris Sigel as a radio announcer, Boesch eventually became Houston Wrestling's first television commentator, a move that catapulted the promotion to new heights. After Sigel's death in 1966, Boesch bought the promotion, ushering in an era of unprecedented success.
The Stars and Stories:
Under Boesch's leadership, Houston Wrestling featured some of the biggest names in the business, including Billy Red Lyons, Gary Hart, and many others who praised Boesch for his honesty and promotional prowess. The promotion became known for its sell-out shows and memorable matches, establishing itself as a cornerstone of the wrestling world.
The End:
The rise of cable television and the territorial wars of the 1980s eventually led to Houston Wrestling's decline. Boesch's brief partnership with Vince McMahon's WWF marked the end of an era. Boesch retired in 1987 with a sell-out show that honored his contributions to the sport, closing the chapter on one of wrestling's most cherished promotions.  In Paul Boesch book he wrote to Vince Mcmahon the man who ruined the handshake, bitter and old now find out what really happened from the man who was there for the whole thing.
The Conversation Between The Louisville Lip & Brother Love:
As Cornette and Prichard delve into these rich histories, they share personal anecdotes, behind-the-scenes stories, and their perspectives on the key moments that defined Houston Wrestling. Their deep respect for Paul Boesch and the legacy he built shines through, making this conversation a must-watch for any wrestling fan.  Jim Doesn't Bring up Politics once
