I had a very similar thing happen. I have MS and had major UTI issues. At one point I went to the doctor 2-3 times and the dip stick kept coming back negative and they never sent it to culture because it wasn't showing in the dip. I actually was sent by my neurologist to a special disease doctor because of a "mysterious" fever that I kept having when trying to get my infusion for my illness. Turned out I had a UTI the entire time. I probably had that UTI for months and was just getting by. It happened again later, because of lab mistakes. I was so nausea for months and final it showed up.
