Dr. John Mesa is uniquely known for safely and comfortably doing 100% of his procedures, including face and neck lifts, under local anesthesia. He has mastered a technique for numbing facial nerves to eliminate the risks surrounding general anesthesia and relieve people of the anxiety of “going to sleep.”

Originally from Colombia, Dr. Mesa worked hard to get to where he is today in the US plastic surgery industry. With 18 years of training and three fellowships under his belt, he followed his passion for making the face as beautiful as possible.

With approximately 50% of his practice being buccal fat removal, Dr. Mesa prides himself in recommending the treatment only to patients with the right bone structure to avoid the “over hollow” look like the one famously taking over Hollywood.

Dr. Mesa has dedicated a generous amount of time to the further advancement of cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. He spent six years writing a textbook on facial reconstruction and did five years of research at Harvard creating cartilage grafts through injections.
