He's back. LSU is finalizing a deal with Corey Raymond to return as the next defensive backs coach of the Tigers after a stint at Florida. The anticipation is that he will take on duties with the cornerbacks, but a title is still being worked out, sources tell LSU Country. Raymond, an architect to the "DBU" tradition in Baton Rouge, makes his way back to Death Valley for a second run with the Bayou Bengals. Raymond spent 10 seasons with the Tigers before Brian Kelly’s arrival to Baton Rouge ahead of the 2022 season. Raymond then coached the defensive backs at Florida for two seasons under Billy Napier before the two sides parted ways. Raymond’s secondary has produced seven First-Team All-Americans during his time at LSU, a list that includes Eric Reid (2012), Jalen Mills (2015), Jamal Adams (2016), Tre’Davious White (2016), Greedy Williams (2018), Grant Delpit (2018 and 2019) and Derek Stingley Jr. (2019, 2020). LSU is also expected to tab Jake Olsen as the Tigers' safeties coach. Olsen reportedly came with LSU's new defensive coordinator Blake Baker to Baton Rouge and has been at LSU the last couple of weeks, but it has not been clear if he would assume an on-field coaching role. The last two seasons, Olsen served as a defensive analyst at Missouri where he worked under Baker and also has previous experience as a special teams coordinator. Prior to his stint in Columbia, Missouri, Olsen was on Ed Orgeron's staff at LSU in 2021. Tigers defensive tackle Jacobian Guillory did not enter his name into the 2024 NFL draft prior to Monday’s deadline and instead plans to return to LSU for what will be his redshirt senior season. A former four-star prospect from Alexandria, Louisiana, Guillory has mostly been a rotational player in his four years at LSU. He’s appeared in 39 games but made just three starts, two of which came in 2022 and one of which was this past season. Coming off their first loss in conference play this season on the road against Auburn, the LSU women’s basketball team finds itself back in a hostile road environment on Thursday night as it travels to Coleman Coliseum to take on Alabama in Tuscaloosa. Every road game the Tigers have played so far this season has either set a program/arena record or been a shutout, and this will likely be no different as the Crimson Tide look for a huge win. Alabama sits at 15-4 on the year but is just 2-2 in SEC play and coming off an 18-point loss to Arkansas at home its last time out. Here’s what you need to know to watch as LSU looks for a similar result in Tuscaloosa. LSU earned its first ranked win of the season on Wednesday night, moving to 11-6 overall and 3-1 in SEC play with an 89-80 win over the Ole Miss Rebels in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center. The Rebels managed to take several decent-sized leads in the first half, and the Tigers found themselves trailing by as much as seven. But in large part thanks to big halves from Jordan Wright and Jalen Reed, who had 11 and eight points in the frame, respectively, LSU took a 35-33 lead to the locker room despite shooting just 41.4% as a team. However, the Tigers shot above 50% in the second half while Ole Miss shot just 32.4%. They stretched their lead to as much as 16 points, and though Ole Miss would cut it to single digits a few times, it never got closer than five points in the final 10 minutes. Wright finished with a game-high 27 points, while Jalen Cook ultimately finished behind him with 16 points. The Tigers allowed big nights to stars Jaylen Murray (23 points), Matthew Murrell (20 points) and Allen Flanigan (19 points), but the rest of the Rebels struggled to get going.
