Josué 18: Negligencia Espiritual.

Josué 18:1‭-‬6 RVA2015:
Toda la congregación de los hijos de Israel se reunió en Silo, e instalaron allí el tabernáculo de reunión. La tierra les estaba sometida, pero habían quedado siete tribus de los hijos de Israel, a las cuales todavía no se les había repartido heredad. Entonces Josué dijo a los hijos de Israel: —¿Hasta cuándo serán negligentes para ir a poseer la tierra que les ha dado el SEÑOR, Dios de sus padres? Elijan a tres hombres de cada tribu para que yo los envíe, y ellos vayan, recorran la tierra, hagan una descripción de ella con miras a sus heredades, y después vuelvan a mí. Ellos la dividirán en siete partes. Judá permanecerá en su territorio en el sur, y los de la casa de José en su territorio en el norte. Ustedes, pues, me harán la descripción de la tierra, dividiéndola en siete partes; y me la traerán aquí. Y les haré el sorteo aquí, delante del SEÑOR nuestro Dios.

Recordemos lo que ya hemos aprendido en los capítulos anteriores acerca del avance de los israelitas en la tierra de Canaán.
Aquí vemos a Josué haciendo un balance en general del progreso que han hecho en la tierra prometida y, sorprendentemente, 7 tribus todavía no tenían sus tierras definidas ni conquistadas.
Después de muchos años de guerras, conquistando ciudades, montañas y valles, solamente 5 tribus tenían sus tierras establecidas.
Es por eso que el veterano líder, Josué, los recriminó por su falta de iniciativa para luchar con valor, por su falta de confianza en las promesas del Señor que prometió darles a sus enemigos en sus manos.
Como lo notamos ayer, todas las tribus fueron negligentes porque no expulsaron totalmente a algunos habitantes de sus tierras.
La negligencia vino del conformismo que había entre ellos, se acostumbraron a convivir juntos y pasar momentos agradables de camaradería, repartiendo botines de guerra, pero olvidando la principal misión que era conquistar la tierra.

¡Nosotros los que hemos hecho un pacto con Dios, debemos conquistar para vencer las obras de la carne, los deseos de este mundo que van en contra de la voluntad de Dios, y edificar una vida cristiana fuerte si queremos llegar a la tierra prometida de las bendiciones de Dios aquí en la tierra y también la vida eterna que disfrutaremos junto con nuestras familias!
La Biblia es clara al mostrarnos que a Dios le desagrada la negligencia. El apóstol Pablo nos aconseja que como cristianos debemos ser diligentes para cuidar el tiempo y cómo lo invertimos. Leamos Efesios 5:15-17: “Miren, pues, con cuidado, cómo se comportan; no como imprudentes sino como prudentes, redimiendo el tiempo porque los días son malos. Por tanto, no sean insensatos sino comprendan cuál es la voluntad del Señor.”
En pocas palabras, no debemos ser negligentes y descuidar nuestras almas, viviendo de forma desordenada, dando mal ejemplo o invirtiendo mal el regalo del tiempo.

El apóstol Pedro nos enseña que debemos desarrollar varias virtudes a nuestra fe. No basta solo con decir que creemos en Dios, sino que hay que crecer en otras áreas espirituales para no caer en la ociosidad y ser realmente útiles delante de los ojos de Dios. Leamos 2 Pedro 1:5-8: “Y por esto deben esforzarse en añadir a su fe la buena conducta; a la buena conducta, el entendimiento; al entendimiento, el dominio propio; al dominio propio, la paciencia; a la paciencia, la devoción; a la devoción, el afecto fraternal; y al afecto fraternal, el amor. Si ustedes poseen estas cosas y las desarrollan, ni su vida será inútil ni habrán conocido en vano a nuestro Señor Jesucristo. Cuanto más crezcan de esta manera, más productivos y útiles serán en el conocimiento de nuestro Señor Jesucristo; en cambio si estamos ocupados haciendo algo para la obra de Dios siempre vamos a dar fruto en abundancia!” (Versión: Dios habla hoy).

Por último, tomemos también la determinación de prestar más atención a la forma en que estamos conviviendo con nuestras familias. Si estamos siendo negligentes con sus necesidades emocionales. Mejoremos la forma en que los tratamos y la atención que ellos necesitan. Esto es un reflejo de la condición de nuestra alma delante de Dios. Si no eres negligente con tu crecimiento espiritual, entonces tendremos un hogar firme, demostrando que los gigantes que nos tenían derrotados, ahora son ellos los que han huido de nuestros corazones y nuestros hogares.

Joshua 18: Spiritual Neglect.

Joshua 18:1-6:
Now the whole congregation of the children of Israel assembled together at Shiloh, and set up the tabernacle of meeting there. And the land was subdued before them. But there remained among the children of Israel seven tribes which had not yet received their inheritance.
Then Joshua said to the children of Israel: “How long will you neglect to go and possess the land which the Lord God of your fathers has given you? Pick out from among you three men for each tribe, and I will send them; they shall rise and go through the land, survey it according to their inheritance, and come back to me. And they shall divide it into seven parts. Judah shall remain in their territory on the south, and the house of Joseph shall remain in their territory on the north. You shall therefore survey the land in seven parts and bring the survey here to me, that I may cast lots for you here before the Lord our God.

Let's remember what we have already learned in the previous chapters about the advance of the Israelites in the land of Canaan.
Here we see Joshua taking stock in general of the progress they have made in the promised land and, surprisingly, 7 tribes still did not have their lands defined or conquered.
After many years of wars, conquering cities, mountains and valleys, only 5 tribes had their lands settled.
That is why the veteran leader, Joshua, reproached them for their lack of initiative to fight with courage, for their lack of trust in the promises of the Lord who promised to give their enemies into their hands.
As we noted yesterday, all the tribes were negligent because they did not completely expel some of the inhabitants from their land.
The negligence came from the conformism that existed between them, they got used to living together and spending pleasant moments of camaraderie, distributing the spoils of war, but forgetting the main mission was to conquer the land.

We who have made a covenant with God, must conquer to overcome the works of the flesh, the desires of this world that go against the will of God, and build a strong Christian life if we want to reach the promised land of God of the blessings of God here on Earth and also the eternal life that we will enjoy together with our families!
The Bible is clear in showing us that neglect is disliked by God. The apostle Paul advises us that as Christians we must be diligent to take care of time and how we spend it. Let's read Ephesians 5:15-17: “See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is.”
In short, we must not be lazy and neglect our souls, living disorderly, setting a bad example, or misusing the gift of time.

The apostle Peter teaches us that we must develop several virtues to our faith. It is not enough just to say that we believe in God, but that we must grow in other spiritual areas so as not to fall into idleness and to be truly useful in the eyes of God. Let's read 2 Peter 1:5-8: “But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Finally, let's also resolve to pay more attention to how we are living with our families. If we are neglecting their emotional needs, let's improve the way we treat them and the care they need. This is a reflection of the condition of our soul before God. If you are not negligent with your spiritual growth, then we will have a firm home, showing that the giants who had us defeated, now they are the ones who have fled from our hearts and our homes.
