Josué 7: Cuidado con las contaminaciones del mundo.

(Lea en su biblia) Josué 7:1-13

Este es un episodio triste para la nueva generación que sufrió su primera derrota en su primera conquista en la tierra prometida. Apenas estaban celebrando la gran victoria que Dios les dio sobre una gran ciudad cuando estaban ahora en estado de pánico al ver una pequeña ciudad vencer a sus guerreros.
¡Esto no tenía sentido! ¿Cómo era posible que Dios hubiera permitido semejante vergüenza ante sus enemigos? Todos a su alrededor se enterarían de esta derrota y se juntarían para atacarlos. Ellos se darían cuenta que Dios ya los había dejado y que eran vulnerables.
Ese era el temor de Josué. Pero Josué sabía que la respuesta la encontraría al consultar al Señor en oración y con una actitud de humillación. Josué, desesperado, le hace el reclamo al Señor y el Señor le revela la respuesta a este problema: Alguien fue demasiado atrevido de haber tomado unos objetos que codició de Jericó.
Ya el Señor había dispuesto castigar a esta ciudad maligna llena de pecado. Su juicio había llegado y se debía destruir esta ciudad en su totalidad. Aun Dios dijo que después podrían tomar el botín de las otras ciudades que conquistaran, pero que con Jericó sería diferente. No se debía tomar absolutamente nada de ella. La orden fue clara y la oportunidad de tomar riquezas sería más adelante.
La misión se cumplió, pero un solo hombre pensó que podía burlarse de Dios y que no afectaría a nadie.
Acán se dejó llevar por la avaricia, su imprudencia lo encegueció y codició unos objetos valiosos y atractivos a la vista. Su deseo inmediato no lo dejó disfrutar de las abundancias venideras. Por esa causa trajo muerte a otros israelitas, muriendo en manos de los enemigos. Trajo muerte a su familia porque sufrieron las consecuencias de los actos de su cabeza de hogar. Trajo maldición al pueblo haciendo que Dios no les diera más bendiciones, ni les diera la victoria sobre sus enemigos.
Al final, Dios descubrió al que trajo la maldición y murió él con toda su familia y sus pertenencias. Su placer temporal lo privó de disfrutar lo permanente.

Que este claro ejemplo de las consecuencias de nuestras acciones nos haga examinar con cuidado nuestras decisiones en el diario vivir. Es claro que lo que digamos, hagamos y decidamos tendrá sobre los que nos rodea un efecto positivo o negativo.
Desde el más grande hasta el más pequeño; hacia nuestra pareja que duerme a nuestro lado, nuestros hijos que viven bajo nuestro techo, nuestros padres que se preocupan por nosotros, nuestra congregación que es nuestra familia de la fe, nuestros compañeros de trabajo que nos ven como un ejemplo de un ser espiritual, y mayormente con nuestro Dios que se alegra o se entristece dependiendo de la acción buena o mala que hagamos.
Por ejemplo, hoy en día, si yo peco, mis hijos no sufrirán el castigo de Dios por mis malas acciones pero sí sufrirán indirectamente por eso. Ellos sufrirán desilusión, vergüenza y confusión, porque verán en mí a alguien que dice una cosa y hace otra.
Escucha el consejo que dió el apóstol Pablo a todo aquel que quiera ser un buen siervo de Dios en 1 Timoteo 3:7: “También es necesario que tenga buen testimonio de los de afuera, para que no caiga en descrédito y en los lazos del diablo.”
Por último, recordemos el consejo del apóstol Pedro acerca del peligro de caer en contaminaciones pecaminosas que nos harán ser peor que antes; leamos 2 Pedro 2:20: “Gracias al conocimiento de nuestro Señor y Salvador Jesucristo, habían logrado escapar de las contaminaciones del mundo, pero volvieron a enredarse en ellas y fueron vencidos, con lo que su estado final fue peor que el primero.” (RVC).

Soy Eduardo Rodríguez. Que el Señor te dé la prudencia y el temor de Dios para guardar tu alma y la de tu familia de cualquier maldición que contamine tu hogar y te haga perder la bendición de Dios.

Joshua 7: Beware of the contaminations of the world.

Joshua 7:1-13 (Please read in your bible)

This is a sad episode for the new generation that suffered their first defeat in their first conquest in the promised land. They were just celebrating the great victory that God gave them over a big city when they were now in a state of panic to see a small city defeat its warriors.
This made no sense! How could God have allowed such embarrassment before their enemies? Everyone around would learn of this defeat and gather to attack them. They would realize that God had already left them and that they were vulnerable.
That was Joshua's fear. But Joshua knew that the answer would be found by consulting the Lord in prayer and with an attitude of humiliation. Joshua, desperate, makes the claim to the Lord and the Lord reveals the answer to this problem: Someone was too daring to have taken some objects that he coveted from Jericho.
The Lord had already arranged to punish this evil city full of sin. His judgment had come and this city must be destroyed in its entirety. Even God said that they could later take the spoils from the other cities they conquered, but with Jericho it would be different. Absolutely nothing was to be taken from them. The order was clear and the opportunity to take riches would be later.
The mission was accomplished, but a single man thought that he could mock God and that it would not affect anyone.
Achan was carried away by greed, his recklessness blinded him and he coveted some valuable and attractive objects in sight. His immediate desire did not let him enjoy the abundance to come. For that reason he brought death to other Israelites, dying at the hands of the enemies. He brought death to his family because they suffered the consequences of the acts of their head of household. He brought a curse on the people causing God not to give them more blessings, nor give them victory over their enemies.
In the end, God found out who brought the curse and he died with all his family and belongings. His temporary pleasure deprived him of enjoying the permanent.

May this clear example of the consequences of our actions make us carefully examine our decisions in daily life. It is clear that what we say, do and decide will have a positive or negative effect on those around us.
From the largest to the smallest; towards our partner who sleeps next to us, our children who live under our roof, our parents who care about us, our congregation who is our family of faith, our co-workers who see us as an example of a spiritual being, and mostly with our God who is happy or sad depending on the good or bad action we do.
For example, nowaday, if I sin, my children will not suffer God's punishment for my bad actions but they will suffer vicariously because of it. They will suffer disappointment, shame and confusion, because they will see in me someone who says one thing and does another.
Listen to the advice that the apostle Paul gave to anyone who wants to be a good servant of God in 1 Timothy 3:7: “Also, people outside the church must speak well of him so that he will not be disgraced and fall into the devil’s trap.” (NLT).
Finally, let us remember the advice of the apostle Peter about the danger of falling into sinful contaminations that will make us worse than before; let's read 2 Peter 2:20: “For if, after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the latter end is worse for them than the beginning.”
