Jueces 8: El grave error de un padre valiente.

Jueces 8:22-28:
Los israelitas dijeron a Gedeón: —Gobiérnanos tanto tú como tu hijo y tu nieto, pues nos has librado de mano de Madián.
Pero Gedeón les respondió: —Yo no los gobernaré a ustedes ni tampoco los gobernará mi hijo. El SEÑOR los gobernará. —Y Gedeón añadió—: Quiero hacerles una petición: que cada uno me dé un arete de oro de su botín.
Los madianitas llevaban aretes de oro, porque eran ismaelitas. Y ellos respondieron: —De buena gana te los daremos.
Tendieron un manto, y cada uno echó allí un arete de su botín. El peso de los aretes de oro que él pidió fue de diecinueve kilos de oro, sin contar las lunetas, los pendientes y las vestiduras de púrpura que llevaban los reyes de Madián, ni los collares que sus camellos traían al cuello. Con ellos Gedeón hizo un efod, que expuso en Ofra, su ciudad. Y todo Israel se prostituyó tras ese efod en aquel lugar, y sirvió de tropiezo a Gedeón y a su familia.

Gedeon realizó una de las más grandes hazañas en el campo de batalla que hasta el día de hoy admiramos y compartimos con emoción.
Al final de la liberación y la conquista impresionante, vemos que la gente quería hacer rey a Gedeón y sus hijos, pero él tenía en claro que el rey de Israel debía seguir siendo el Señor, Dios de Israel.

Vemos que Gedeón tenía firme su fe en el Señor y quería honrarlo, pero aquí vemos varios errores que cometió. Primero, pidió parte del botín de guerra y con ese oro mandó a construir un efod, que era una especie de vestidura tejida en fibras de oro y otras telas que la usaba exclusivamente el sacerdote de la tribu de Leví para consultar al Señor.
La intención de Gedeón tal vez fue tener una representación de algo espiritual en su casa, en su pueblo, pero esto se convirtió en un problema porque ya el pueblo comenzó a ver esto como un objeto de adoración; ya no iban al templo sino que se conformaban con el efod y solo acudían a él. ¡Se convirtió en objeto de idolatría!
Esto es un gran ejemplo de cómo una intención buena puede convertirse en algo malo.

Es como si pensáramos que dando regalos a nuestros hijos estos reemplazarán el tiempo que debemos dedicarle, escuchando sus preguntas o inquietudes, jugando y conversando con ellos, orando y leyendo la Biblia de forma constante.
Cuando vemos cambios drásticos en sus comportamientos, pensamos que ellos son malagradecidos porque no se comportan bien, pero posiblemente están reflejando ese vacío que los regalos y los objetos no pueden llenar. Es como decir que amo a mi esposa porque le doy unos bolsos o vestidos costosos pero nunca salgo con ella para compartir un tiempo de pareja.
Los regalos y objetos son complemento en mi forma de demostrar mi afecto por ellos y trae alegrías a sus corazones, pero perderán su gusto si dejo de hacer lo vital y esencial que es mostrar mi interés por el bienestar de ellos en la medida del tiempo que les dedique.
Nada puede reemplazar mi amor y dedicación.

Así mismo es nuestra relación con Dios. Tampoco ninguna acción bonita puede reemplazar nuestra responsabilidad como cristiano, seguidor de Jesucristo. Cuidémonos de caer en el error de reemplazar alguna práctica bíblica por alguna acción propia que comencemos a establecer en el hogar, pensando que esta puede tomar el lugar de otra. Por ejemplo, no podemos reemplazar el hábito de congregarnos por los devocionales en el hogar y decir que ya no necesitamos ir a la congregación. Es necesario orar en la casa, pero eso no reemplaza la oración colectiva con mis hermanos. No podemos reemplazar la ofrenda que debemos dar al Señor por alguna acción de caridad que hagamos por alguien. Una cosa buena no debe reemplazar la otra. Más bien, hacer las dos cosas y poniendo primero el consejo de Dios que nuestras propias ideas que queremos establecer en nuestro hogar.

Gedeón quiso hacer algo para engrandecer a Dios en su casa, su familia y su pueblo, pero lo que hizo fue desviarlos del orden establecido en la ley de Dios. Mañana veremos cómo uno de sus hijos se desvió del camino de Dios y cometió grandes faltas y actos criminales, pues posiblemente ya no escuchaba la ley, no llevaba las ofrendas al tabernáculo, y perdió toda sensibilidad del temor a Dios que su padre profesaba.

Espero que cuando hagas algo noble y especial, que esto no sobrepase lo vital y necesario en el área espiritual y emocional en tu casa.

🇺🇲 Judges 8: The serious mistake of a brave father.

Judges 8:22-28:
Then the men of Israel said to Gideon, “Rule over us, both you and your son, and your grandson also; for you have delivered us from the hand of Midian.”
But Gideon said to them, “I will not rule over you, nor shall my son rule over you; the Lord shall rule over you.” Then Gideon said to them, “I would like to make a request of you, that each of you would give me the earrings from his plunder.” For they had golden earrings, because they were Ishmaelites.
So they answered, “We will gladly give them.” And they spread out a garment, and each man threw into it the earrings from his plunder. Now the weight of the gold earrings that he requested was one thousand seven hundred shekels of gold, besides the crescent ornaments, pendants, and purple robes which were on the kings of Midian, and besides the chains that were around their camels’ necks. Then Gideon made it into an ephod and set it up in his city, Ophrah. And all Israel played the harlot with it there. It became a snare to Gideon and to his house.
Thus Midian was subdued before the children of Israel, so that they lifted their heads no more. And the country was quiet for forty years in the days of Gideon.

Gideon performed one of the greatest feats on the battlefield that to this day we admire and share with emotion.
At the end of the impressive deliverance and conquest, we see that the people wanted to make Gideon and his sons king, but he was clear that the king of Israel must remain the Lord, God of Israel.

We see that Gideon had firm faith in the Lord and wanted to honor Him, but here we see several mistakes he made. First, he asked for part of the spoils of war and with that gold he ordered the construction of an ephod, which was a kind of garment woven of gold fibers and other fabrics that was used exclusively by the priest of the tribe of Levi to consult the Lord.
Perhaps Gideon's intention was to have a representation of something spiritual in his house, in his town, but this became a problem because the town already began to see this as an object of worship; they no longer went to the temple but were satisfied with the ephod and only went to it. He became an object of idolatry!
This is a great example of how a good intention can turn into something bad.

It is as if we think that giving gifts to our children will replace the time we must dedicate to them, listening to their questions or concerns, playing and talking with them, praying and reading the Bible constantly.
When we see drastic changes in their behavior, we think that they are ungrateful because they are not behaving well, but possibly they are reflecting that void that gifts and objects cannot fill. It's like saying I love my wife because I give her some expensive bags or dresses but I never go out with her to share some time as a couple.
Gifts and objects are complementary in my way of showing my affection for them and bring joy to their hearts, but they will lose their taste if I fail to do the vital and essential thing that is to show my interest in their well-being as long as I dedicate them. Nothing can replace my love and dedication.

So is our relationship with God. Nor can any beautiful action replace our responsibility as a Christian, a follower of Jesus Christ. Let us beware of falling into the error of replacing some biblical practice with some action of our own that we begin to establish in the home, thinking that this can take the place of another. For example, we cannot replace the habit of gathering for home devotions and say that we no longer need to go to the congregation. It is necessary to pray at home, but that does not replace collective prayer with my brothers and sisters. We cannot replace the offering that we must give to the Lord for some act of charity that we do for someone. One good thing should not replace the other. Rather, do both and put God's advice before our own ideas that we want to establish in our home.

The Pharisees began to impose new practices that they themselves could not carry. Christians stopped praying to Jesus Christ and started praying to images of the saints. They no longer believed that salvation was by the grace of God and faith in Jesus Christ, but in indulgences that they bought for a certain amount of money to save the souls of their loved ones. That's how easy it is to fall into this mistake.

Gideon wanted to do something to magnify God in his house, his family and his people, but what he did was divert them from the order established in God's law. Tomorrow we will see how one of his sons deviated from the path of God and committed great faults and criminal acts, because possibly he no longer listened to the law, he did not bring the offerings to the tabernacle, and he lost all sensitivity to the fear of God that his father professed.

I hope that when you do something noble and special, that it does not go beyond what is vital and necessary in the spiritual and emotional area in your home.
