Hi Ken and thanks for listening to my podcast. Listeners like you have made my podcast a great success. Far as I know, I am the only libertarian podcaster in Florida that has made it onto iHeartRadio and my listeners are approaching 100,000! In fact, I was just interviewed by Southern Poverty Law Center. First, I did not say that free markets were not Libertarian. I did say that the ideas of the Foundation for Economic Education were not Libertarian. However, Thoreau who most historians consider the founding father of American Libertarian though never believed free markets were Libertarian. The idea that free markets were Libertarian came from Foundation for Economic Education. Thoreau, supported the belief that less is better this is a far cry from consumerism and free markets. “Most of the luxuries, and many of the so-called comforts of life, are not only not indispensable, but positive hindrances to the elevation of mankind” (Henry D. Thoreau Walden, 14) Second, Mr. Invictus did receive wide support. He became the Secretary and then Chair of the Orange County Libertarian Party. The Libertarian Party of Fl. tried to have him removed and the vote failed. Third, The LPF does bear some responsibility because it did support the Alt-Right movement that terrorized Charlottesville Va. It is alleged that a Director At Large gave Mr. Invictus a thumbs-up on his way to Charlottesville. Fourth, Gandhi when jailed in England read Thoreau’s “Civil Disobedience”. Gandhi was so profoundly influenced by Thoreau’s libertarian ideology he adopted the term “civil disobedience” as strategy of non-violent intervention and liberated millions from harsh British rule. Once again Ken thanks for listening to my podcast.
