Nature is not just a hobby for Lisa Brooks (Abenaki). Though she enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking and fishing, she works diligently in her professional life to protect the land. She is a member of the Abenaki Nation of Missisquoi, and she is passionate about land reclamation and Indigenous history. Her research and work has earned the Bancroft Prize for American History and Diplomacy and a Guggenheim Fellowship.
