I’m reminded of it in 2020 because of the way people are treating the idea of having to wear a mask. Put that thing away. Your nose is snotty. Your mouth spits. It’s the nastiest part of your body and yet you won’t put that thing away. Turn it into a safe ritual. Wearing it isn’t about you. I bet you’re prettier by the way you speak, share, grow then you are with that snotty thing hanging over those spitting lips. Put it away! On this podcast episode we talk about the new rituals adopted during this Covid-19 nightmare. Most jump out of bed to hit the restroom, maybe get the coffee started, run about the house to see if everything’s still intact. We all have rituals. Jazzie and I take a long walk first thing. It’s our ritual. It gives me the chance to do my daily intensions. To set up the day mentally and spiritually. Being with nature without the sun’s rays is quite the experience. I laugh like a child when the owls are hooting up a storm. One ritual I’m having a hard time dealing with is what takes place before I daily write. I read the fricken headlines. I hate it! 90% of the material plastered on any news outlet is propaganda. My problem is how I think 10% of it is real. But how can you decide if you don’t read all of it? Oh I’m not reading the stories. I get what I need from the headlines. That’s not a good place to start the day. Read the stories! Every news outlet is attached to a huge corporation gripping onto political agendas. They hire the right people to keep their side of the story up front and always leading an unknowing fan or follower. Today’s journalists lean into a story a little more today and a little more tomorrow then a little more. It takes three times for a radio listener to hear a commercial before they mentally check in with a reaction. How many headlines does it take to change your way of thinking? How many rituals do you live with during one 24 hour period? How many of them do you need to put away? Tough times man! Especially since Dr. Fauci told Congress yesterday that if we don’t put this Covid-19 to rest we’ll be seeing 100,000 new cases every day. Is that 90% propaganda or 10% truth?
