La Llorona, The Wailing Woman of the Rio Bravo, is the tragic legend of Mariana, a beautiful young woman in a small Mexican village who falls in love with a wealthy Spaniard, Don Rafael. Promised love and a better life, she bears his children, only to be abandoned when he marries another. Consumed by grief and betrayal, she descends into madness, ultimately drowning her own children in the Rio Bravo, believing it will reunite them forever. Realizing the horror of her actions, she wails in despair before drowning herself. But death offers no escape.
