WBAP recently asked Michael Cupps to come on the air in Dallas, TX to discuss March Madness and productivity in the workforce. Cupps, the executive VP of Active Ops North America, stated that how a manager approaches the event can make it either a positive or negative experience. If embraced as an opportunity for team building, collaboration, and fun, it can have a very positive impact. However, if a manager ignores the event, it can create a bad culture where employees are hiding their participation behind the manager's back. In terms of productivity, Cupps mentioned that March Madness lasts only a short spurt, but can still impact productivity for deadlines and with millennials who may skip work to watch games. Cupps suggested managers allocate time for March Madness and celebrate it with employees, while still clarifying the objectives and ensuring that the work gets done. Don't get left behind, get employees working together and enjoying the big games.
