The latest politically-motivated investigation in Michigan's Football is further confirmation that the Wolverines have become the team to beat in the Big Ten conference and possibly in the entire country. No one is drumming up weak reasons to investigate the Michigan State Spartans or any other teams on our schedule. Why not? Because they aren't having the kind of on-field success that Michigan is having. If you can't beat a team on the field, then our opponents will try to find ways to attack that team off the field. That is exactly what is happening.

Further, this underlies the lame-duck status of the NCAA as an authority or governing body over college football. It is time for college football to break free from the NCAA, once and for all. It's time for college football to have its own governing body and its own commissioner.
