How is one tricked into a life of Labor & Human Trafficking……
If you're a person like myself I’m almost kind to anyone I’ve been told I’m too kind. But what if being kind and that kindness lead you to people or places with people who aren’t. Only to have other things in mind for you. Well this episode I’d like to focus on ways one can be mislead into Labor or Human Trafficking.
So let’s take an example of Caesar who came to America from El Savadore, For a better job and life. Only to find work in a restaurant that offered him a place to stay. But he never saw his wages and worked long hours. Sometimes with no day off Caesar was tricked into Labor trafficking. This happens to many foreigners here in America and it’s wrong.
Although Caesar came in contact with someone who noticed this happening to him and was able to help him out.
Not many get help or know what to do. Coming to a foreign place and for many foreigners they come to work wanting the same thing the average American citizen wants: a chance at a good life. Some are taken advantage of and it's wrong. But this is one way an individual is tricked into labor trafficking. It could be either a Woman or Man, even Children or Young Teens.
Let's focus on some other ways one can be tricked into Labor Trafficking…
The promise of a visa or citizenship is one way. Being told they can be promised with visas and citizenships. These victims work long hours and some work everyday. Very sad for foreigners who don’t know the laws here or where or how to get out of this type of life.
I experienced a man who worked constantly in a restaurant. Everytime I went he was there and I asked him if he worked all the time and he just looked at me. Hummed but he acted as if he was being watched or couldn’t talk. I remember going home with him in my mind because I know this stuff is very much real and is happening.
But I’ve been told as an American we are spoiled and pay very little attention. But I can tell you I observe and have experienced or came in contact with what I speak about. So I am not merely just speaking, I have been affected in some way in what I speak about.
I end my nights in deep thought or saying my prayers that many of these victims are rescued. Because people who do this to victims only see Greed. And it’s never enough they don’t see the pain they're causing to the victims. Not until it happens to them.
So if you’d like to know more about Labor Trafficking do research and find out how you can help victims in these situations or how you can get involved visit:

One way is “Think Before You Shop”
Do something rather than nothing!
These Victims depend on it!
Now what are some ways one can be mislead into Human Trafficking??
One method used is misleading friendships. By either a female or someone she knows to mislead the victim into this type of life.
The Promise of a loving relationship can be misleading.
A job
Hitchhiking trusting rides with strangers so be careful as these drivers aren’t screened.
Even spending the night at someone's home or place can be misleading.
Lying to the victim telling them one thing and doing the total opposite of what they said.
Very common this is the #1 way victims are misled is when the trafficker lies. If you're told something and it doesn’t happen in the next day nine out ten it won’t happen and it’s most likely a lie.
These are some of the ways one can be misled in our youth: it's the trusting of friendships or an individual. Promising something that never was received or intended for the victim to have.
These are scary but it should be and the fear should cause the US to be careful with the people we build friendships with especially if it’s out of the norm. Be Careful.
So what are some ways I can get involved to help End human trafficking……
Let me say this is not a one person’s job this is a community job. If you care I mean really care for the victims living in these situations. Then get involved not get involved then decide just because it’s not at your front door you want to stop.
It’s a continuous job that requires work daily, these victims depend on us while we’re smiling and enjoying life each day. Their lives are miserable impacted by pain daily and how I know because I was impacted by it and it changed my life forever.
Sometimes I feel like my voice isn’t enough but I know that a voice that isn’t silent is indeed being heard. To cause pain of this sort is horrific and to have it caused by adults is horrific. Especially for our youth who are just beginning to live even if it’s no relative of yours.
The victim is another mothers child.
So how can I help? How can I get Involved??
Be a voice, spread the word and write to your local officials in office. You want to get involved in ending Human Trafficking. Awareness is one way to keep up with your statistics. Just because you don’t see it doesn’t mean it isn’t happening. Look at your state's statistics and even our Country Statistics.
And that alone will tell you it exists where you are……
This is Tialonda Thank you for listening in and joining in on this episode. Many do not like the topic but of course who wants to discuss topics such as this? It is so easy to ignore or push it in the back of our minds. But I want to bring it to the forefront because after looking at the statistics I felt I needed to make this awareness to others who do care and are involved. To continue the fight to End Labor & Human Trafficking.
In closing I’d like to also send my prayers to Ukraine as I speak about abusive behaviors.
Let's remember those who are in this war, the innocent victims Men, women and children, some having experienced just that at no fault of their own.
This evening keep Ukraine in your prayers!!
