Advanced weapons tech during the 70’s and 80’s spoke of Soviet Advanced Weapon Concepts. The released paper goes on to say:
“Soviet research that will provide necessary background knowledge for several advanced warfare techniques is being actively supported. Because of the nature of this research, three new concepts for defense appear suspect the use of high intensity electromagnetic radiation directed to an aerospace target, the use of beams of particles accelerated to relativistic speeds and directed to an aerospace target and the use of plasma bodies generated and accelerated to a target, or generated for use as a coupling mechanism to facilitate destruction through concentrated electromagnetic energy.”
Plasma and electromagnetic energy were also discussed as part of a UK Ministry of Defense report titled “ Project Condign” released through a FOIA request by Dr. David Clarke many years later.
