Dr. MacArthur says, “Paul presents these characteristics under four categories: (1) personal duties; (2) family duties; (3) duties to others; and (4) duties to those who consider us enemies. Our focus verse is Rom 12.18.
I.Realize peace is not always possible with all people at all times.
A.Russia & Ukraine; China & Taiwan; India & Pakistan; Hatfields & McCoys
B.A beautiful relationship can take a bad turn - Saul developed a jealousy and hatred of David
C.David was faithful to God, to Israel, and to his king (King Saul). He lived righteously.

E.There are some people who refuse peace. Peace is not always possible with all people at all times.
II.No matter what others do, be sure you purpose peace in your heart. Do your part.
A.One mark of a true Christian is not how they carry themselves during good times, but how they respond to the storms of life.
B.Some say, “Revenge is sweet.” But it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the LORD.”
C.David had opportunities to take Saul’s life. Let’s look at one.
D.In chap 26, we find Saul with 3k men seeking David’s life again. And again, David spares Saul.
E.No matter what Saul did, David purposed peace in his heart & did his part & was righteous before God.
F.No matter what others do, be sure to purpose peace in your heart. Do you part as the Holy Spirit leads.
Conclusion: Let’s pray for peace… And if possible, so far as it depends on us, let us live peaceably with all in the world, in our nation, in our churches, in our communities, and in our families by pursuing peace by living righteously. Amen.
