It’s another Tuesday night, and it’s another No Filter Show for Joe and the Philly Guy Speaks Pod. Joe begins with some Northwestern updates. Lawsuits are starting to fly, and things aren’t looking good. Northwestern is a bit of a woke school, because if you remember, the student athletes tried to unionize but failed. Joe gets the feeling we’re just seeing the tip of the iceberg here.

Then Joe discusses the curious case of Joel Embiid and the Sixers. Embiid stated on a podcast that he wants to win here (in Philly) or elsewhere. This seems like clickbait to Joe, but understands what the MVP is saying. He’ll do what he can to win. Then Daryl Morey was on 97.5 The Fanatic and said that he is doing what he can to meet James Harden’s request for a trade but expects to get a return that will keep the Sixers a contender. Joe says good luck with that.

Johnny Bench (kinda) got himself into trouble with an anti-Semitic comment at a Reds Hall of Fame ceremony. The daughter of one of the inducted Hall of Famers never heard the comment, but Bench apologized anyway. Joe thinks what Bench said was locker room type speech, but you have to be careful in all public settings. But Joe doesn’t think one statement makes someone a racist or anti-Semitic. Even if you say something years ago on Twitter, Joe thinks because you said something 15 years ago doesn’t mean you are still that person. Joe thinks this was a one-time thing that occurred over the weekend, and once again, a bit of click bait.

MLB took over the Arizona Diamondbacks TV coverage today, as the team and Diamond Sports could not reach a legal agreement on their contract. Joe detailed what DBack fans can expect, especially since some Arizona viewers were in chat tonight.

Golden Gate Fields in Northern California is closing by the end of the year. Joe is bummed, but knows this is the way of business. Joe doesn’t think that all the horseman at GGF will consolidate to Santa Anita and Southern California and mentions an instance where he didn’t consolidate with a former employer 25 years ago. Joe also speculates other options that the California Horse Racing Board could have with the GGF horsemen, though he considers it a long shot.

Finally, Mage is running Saturday at Monmouth Park in the Haskell. Joe thinks as a gambler that dabbles with Parx, Mage could go from Monmouth to Saratoga for the Travers then to Parx for the Pennsylvania Derby. Let’s say he wins both races, the owner and trainer get extra bonus money each for the horse running in mid-September.

Also, Joe noted last week that the Jim Dandy is this weekend. He corrected his statement from last Thursday as the Travers prep is NEXT Saturday.
