mostra másFirst, Joe Burrow got paid. He signs a 5 year, $275 million contract. He was next in line and is the highest played player in the NFL…for now.
Joe steered away from football as news broke before the show that protesters caused a delay in a women’s singles semifinal match. Joe thinks protesting is okay to an extent, but not disrupting big matches like this.
Back to football, Joe mentions some odds and trends at the sportsbooks as the season begins. Joe won’t lay money on +700 on the Eagles because the odds are too low.
Justin Jefferson wants a new deal, but he’s okay with his agent doing his work and Jefferson doing his job on the field. Joe thinks it is refreshing that someone is more worried about on the field things than off.
There was an interesting study that smaller jersey numbers and the perception that lower jersey numbers give the perception that you are slimmer than higher jersey numbers. It’s fascinating and hopefully Joe can read the whole study on this.
Finally, the last Belmont run at a mile and a half and at Belmont may have been run at the Elmont track until 2026 because of renovations. NYRA wants to run the race at Saratoga, BUT, it may be run at a shorter distance because of the track configuration. Joe thinks the race should be longer and still be a test of a champion.
