Sporadic tales of strange and unexplained encounters have been reported to police in and around the Mojave desert region of the western United States over the last half century. Many were later found to be innocuous in nature. Some are more puzzling, and of those the ones that hint at the unexplained disappearances of persons, and on three recorded occasions, entire families, leave police and local government officials quietly baffled and deeply concerned.
