Developing our identity throughout childhood and all the way through our adult life is a life-long process. Understanding how being unique isn't a bad thing and being able to feel comfortable in one's own skin is a lifetime goal for us all. Tamsin Wood, imaginer and author of Tales of Canglford Nock, children's book series reveals how she begins to teach self-worth and self-esteem to children through her powerful books. We are discussing the reveal of the characters within the stories that connect directly to our lives. One of the biggest misnomers is feeling as though you are alone and no one understands what you are going through. When we feel alone we feel scared, however, we aren't alone in our lives, personal development, challenges, and triumphs. Tamsin reveals how we're in control of our lives and how we can take our time to make correct decisions that are positive and life-affirming. These stories are powerful to read to your children to connect with them and help them to understand the self-esteem, self-confidence, and self-worth pieces to identity and a rewarding and powerful life.
Dan Nelson brings to light the story beginning in 1690, of a young man Laurens who was adopted by a Native American tribe at 13 years old. Due to a situation where he was unable to come back to the tribe, he became a trusted interpreter for the Indians for the Mohawks. A true story of a young person doing great things. Don't miss Tamsin's golden nuggets of wisdom towards the end of the hour. For more information on Tamsin and the series go to: http://www.oncanglfordnock.co.uk

When I first drew my Christian cartoon character, I was told that the story was different. It didn't have humor. Sites wouldn't put my work with the rest of the Christian cartoons. Someone finally told me that my character could stand alone and that it was educational.

She based her characters on what's real. That makes a great author.
