SENATE GOP KILLS DEMOCRAT ELECTION TAKEOVER BILL
I'm no fan of Mitch McConnell. But I'll give credit where credit is due. Recently Mitch and the rest of the Senate GOP killed the Democrats' "Freedom to vote" election bill, which would have led to massive voter fraud in our elections.
"Freedom to vote" bill, lol... You can always tell how bad a Democrat bill is by what they call it. The more absurd the bill, the more they use the title of the bill to make it sound nice.
What's in the bill: Currently, each state runs its own elections. For example, 36 states require ID to vote, but in my state of NJ, you can walk into a polling station and claim to be anyone without proving it. It's up to the state. This bill would have created federal standards for:
vote-by-mail
early voting
voter ID
...and those federal standards would have weakened election security in the states that actually protect our election processes. Because Democrats claim that strong election laws disproportionately affect minorities - an argument that the Supreme Court rejected earlier this year.
In addition, the bill would have required groups to disclose information about their donors and to make Election Day a national holiday - which I'm not opposed to. But the provisions I mentioned earlier made this bill dead on arrival.
So in the end, all 50 Republicans voted against the bill, and all 50 Democrats voted for it, leaving them 10 votes shy of the 60 votes they needed.
