The first adventure in a brand new Mountain Man series from Leroy A. Peters! Fourteen-year-old Azariah Hancock must flee his home in Montgomery County, MD after avenging the rape of his sister by the son of the local sheriff. The Hancock family is hated by many in the county for being fair to their slaves, so Azariah and his family knew he would not receive a fair trial. He heads to St. Louis, where he meets mountain man Liam O'Reilly, who takes the youth under his wing, teaching him the trapping trade.
