I get it. Life is hard. I see you. I see the struggles. I see the frustrations. I see the weariness. I understand how hard it can be to keep our chins up when we are feeling all the “stuff”. I understand. And so does God. This is one of the reasons I believe He had Jesus wash the disciples’ feet in John 13. Join me as we take a closer look at His mindset before getting down in the dust and serving.

Why did He do this? As the leader, He could have asked anyone else to take care of this task, and honestly, our society wouldn’t think anything of it. Because in our culture- our time is money and leaders are taught that they should focus on the things that they can do and delegate things that others are able to do.

Jesus is pretty counter-cultural; He was constantly challenging people’s worldviews. But the reason Jesus decided to get down in the dirt that day was simple. God asked Him to do it. Jesus always did and said what His Father asked Him to do. So, why did God ask Him to do this? I believe one reason is because He knows us. He knows it isn’t always easy to get out of our comfort zone, do those things that are hard and serve. And He also knows that in this world, we will need to be able to do so if we want to shine His light around us.

And that is what we are all called to do- SHINE LIGHT into the darkening shadows of this world! Join me as we explore the nitty-gritty of rising up and shining for Jesus by going low and serving others.
